For a less tiring and more comfortable walk, we recommend using the baggage transportation services of the Sherpa Van Project (www.sherpavan.com). The project provides a back-up service for walkers and cyclists following long distance foot trails and cycle ways in Britain. In the Lakes this relates to the Cumbria Way and the Coast to Coast. The company will transport baggage from hotel to hotel so that visitor's can enjoy the countryside and less strenuous walking without having to carry a heavy backpack. As part of the Cumbria Way service, Sherpa provide a daily service from Borrowdale to Langdale and back. This will allow Lakeland Way walkers to travel more quickly with a light day pack.

Please note that there is no Sherpa service from Langdale to Wasdale and from Wasdale back either way. An overnight pack can be taken to Wasdale or a taxi can be organised by the Hotel. The cost for a taxi should be in the region of £40 per trip (£10 per person assuming baggage transportation for 4 people.)

The cost as quoted by Sherpa will be £15 per person per lift and £25 per lift for two people travelling together.
