The Cumbria Way and Coast to Coast walks are classic routes in their own way and which we all dream of doing some day, over the required 2 to 3 week period. With the limited time that many of us have these days, the Lakeland Way walk provides some of the finest fell walking in this country and achievable over a 3 day period - great for a long weekend or short mid-week break.
The walk will appeal to serious walkers with our recommended high level routes - weather permitting. Equally, the low level routes allow for a more safe passage in bad weather and perhaps for seeking a less strenuous walk. Either route selected, you can be assured that at the end of your day you can relax in the comfort of high quality accommodation with fine food and drink being provided in each of the Hotels.
For a less tiring and more comfortable walk, we recommend using the baggage transportation services of the Sherpa Van Project who provide a daily service from Borrowdale to Langdale and back. This will allow you to perhaps travel more quickly with a light day-pack. Please note that there is no Sherpa service from Langdale to Wasdale and from Wasdale back, either way. An overnight pack can be taken to Wasdale or a taxi can be organised by the Hotel. See our section on Baggage Service for further details. |
