Langdale to Wasdale
Low Level Route
If the weather is bad at Esk Hause, carry on down towards Sprinkling Tarn seeing the mighty crags of Great End to your left and then head on to Sty Head Tarn. The walk to Sty Head provides superb views Great Gable ahead. Take the left turn passing the Mountain Rescue Kit and start the descent into the Wasdale valley. From here, the Wasdale Head Inn can be viewed and immediate thoughts of excellent food, drink and hospitality yet a full 2 miles of walking yet to be done!
As we descend the panorama is dominated by Lingmell, Scafell Pike, Broad Crag, Kirk Fell and then a view of Wastwater - the deepest Lake in the Lake District. If you have time visit the tiny Church of St Olaf close to the Hotel. The gravestones in this peaceful and remote setting relate to the climbers and walkers killed when climbing Scafell and the high peaks in the area.
Total Route Mileage - approx 7.5 miles
