Wasdale to Borrowdale

Low Level Route

From the Wasdale Head Inn, take the ‘Moses Trod’ Path and climb gradually to reach Styhead and onwards passing Styhead Tarn on your right with the path following the course of Styhead Gill. At Greenhow Knott see the impressive waterfall called Taylorgill Force and to your right see a large boulder marking the 1000 foot height mark. The path then descends down to the much photographed Stockley Bridge.

There is then a very pleasant walk to Seathwaite - supposedly the wettest hamlet in England and following the River Derwent. From here, take the track called the Allerdale Ramble passing Thorneythwaite before joining the road and then crossing over to Folly Bridge. There is then a pleasant woodland walk to Longthwaite and thereafter Rosthwaite and the Scafell Hotel for refreshments.
